A Beginning Art Teacher's Blog

Artist of the Week

In addition to the artists discussed in class at the beginning of each new lesson, the high schoolers were introduced to one new artist a week. Here are a few of the artists discussed:

Marian Bantjes Worksheet

Walter Martin and Paloma Muñoz Worksheet

Judith Scott Worksheet

  1. I like the idea of introducing an artist of the week. I think I will use this idea for my students next semester, Thanks!!!

  2. So what do you exactly when introducing a new artist each week? Do you just discuss the artist or do you also do a project based on their work?

    • It depended on the week. Usually I would introduce the artist and then we would do a journal entry on him/her and the similar medium of art. This would be separate from the main art project we were working on. However, you could also use your artist introduction to introduce a new topic/art project. 🙂
