A Beginning Art Teacher's Blog

SMAC (Saturday Morning Art Class)

I had the privilege to teach a Saturday Morning Art Class at ODU this weekend with my partner, Alison. The theme was “Art as Activism” and we taught 13 kids ranging from a third grader on up to a senior in high school. Our lesson taught about printmaking and how to make linoleum stamps. It was also about wearable art and the students used their stamps to print on clothing … including t-shirts, jeans, and bags. I found the class to be a huge success, and really enjoyed my first “real” teaching experience.
